Day 6

We had FHE tonight with the branch! We played UNO in two different groups and ate some popcorn. We definitely saw a different side of the branch members! The UNO game was very intense and let's hope you did not take more than 2 seconds to think before you placed your card or you would surely get elbowed, nudged or told to go faster. Whenever I would place a 'skip' or 'draw 4' card, the girl next to me would mumble something under her breath in romanian, after which Petru would bust up laughing. The game was highly competitive and very quickly paced!
Many times an incorrect card would be played, for example, a yellow 6 was placed on a blue 9. In this case I would always say "heyy no that is not right", which you would do in the States, but we quickly saw that correcting is not a very kosher thing to do. We could feel the frustration rising! Megan, Jessi and I were playing with 4 other branch members and even though I was not the only one making sure the game was played correctly, everyone seemed to think I was. They started saying this phrase every time I corrected someone, I think the verb was 'sa bage'. Petru later explained that they were calling me a name that basically said, if someone were bobbing for apples in a bucket of water, I would push their head under the water. WHAT! haha I was so caught off guard! I was not pushing anyones head under the water I would merely give the person their card back if they played a wrong card! oh well "this is life" yeah?
We then played a game, similar to spoons, but instead of grabbing a spoon when you have four of a kind, you stick your tongue out. When we described the game all the Romanians at the table freaked out! They were like 'ohhh gross, no way" haha what was wrong with sticking your tongue out? We will have to ask Mario because there was obviously something wrong with sticking your tongue out. We modified the game so that you touch your nose and they all agreed and we played the game.
The walk home was relaxing and the weather here is nice. It is getting pretty wet but it is the perfect fall temperature. We made sure we had our bed bug spray because lo and behold. We have them! Anyhoo that is about it for yesterday other than when we got in the elevator an elderly gentleman was getting out and kept saying "oooooh! ooooooh!" hahaha it was so classic.. I am assuming he knew who we were because he is one of our neighbors? The reason behind the ooohing remains a mystery.
