Today was the big day! I have never been in a city with so many people in one small spot. Today was the climax of the festival week as today is the day of Sfanta Paraschiva... the Saint of Iasi. She is an Orthodox Saint. Let me just say.... WOW. The shops were all in full swing and the street was just a sea of people. They closed off the two main roads so that people could walk around and stand to watch the show. You can see that in the picture up above. In the far right corner you can see the street lined with shops too.. (the blue and white tents).
There was a live concert by this famous Romanian rock band called 'Iris' and after they had a firework show... the best firework show I have seen in my entire life. I did not have my camera during the actual event so I am going to borrow some from Aubrea's sd card. Basically.. the fireworks were being lit just 20o or so feet away so the fireworks were all right above our heads. THey were so close that debris was falling into the crowd. Looking up got debris in our eyes and a few sparks were falling too.. in fact one fell and burned a hole through a little girl's beanie a few meters in front of us. I cannot explain how many people there were... over 50,000 people in just a mile radius all watching the concert and fireworks.. there were people climbing up poles and towers on top of cars and up in the buildings.. it was absolutely insane. The streets were all just filled with people with not enough room to sit down... all i want to say is what an awesome night!!

As soon as we got home, Jessi and I rushed out to the balcony to snap some photos.. it was a lot crazier further up in the city but you still can see how many people there were! Like ants!
