Soo today is Friday woot woot. At the orphanage we had a good day. Lumi told Jello not to play with me though which was kind of confusing. She also told me not to pick up the kids anymore .. The kids have been getting pretty emotional, clingy and jealous in regards to me though and I wish that there was something that I could do to help it. I think that it is because they are getting attached to me the longer that I am here. I just am frustrated with the whole mentality that not holding a child is a cure all solution. Lately though, Jello has been especially naughty. The workers have put him back in the nap room as a time out yesterday and today as well. Today they had him back there so long that he fell asleep. This is the first time I have ever seen them do this. I was able to spend quite a bit of time with Petra. She was lying in the little window seat so I sat there and laid her head on my lap. She was so happy today. She would randomly burst into giggles and move her head around. She loves when I cross her arms and pull them back to normal position while making duck sounds. Random I know. I always feel such a strong spirit with her. I got really choked up just playing with her today. While today was a frustrating one with some of the older kids, Petra has become a little more responsive to me which is a HUGE success. When I sit close to where she is lying, she will reach and spastically reach towards me and graze her fingers along my back. This is a huge improvement, as when I first came here she would not really acknowledge my presence at all.. it was difficult to even get her to smile.
The past couple days have been pretty crazy so I was not able to take AU to the computer lab. Lumi and his school teacher were talking and it sounded like they were saying he did not sleep well and had been upset or crying because I have not taken him (from what I could pick up from their Romanian). Lumi explained that it is hard when they need my help with the other kids and cannot afford for me to take him. The teacher agreed.. but that did not change the fact that AU was mad at me. I walked over and tried to interact with him, say hi, ask how his day went, and he would not even look at me. I would move so that I would be in his line of vision and he would turn his head in the opposite direction looking down. I caught him looking at me and he quickly looked away and hid his smile with an angry frown. Of course he cheered right up when later today I took him to the computer lab. Megan came to observe because she was interested in how AU's software works. Of course, he was eager to show off and not as eager to do his homework. I let him play his fun games though because we had not played in a while and I could tell that he too has had a rough couple of days. Megan was saying that she thinks some of the older kids in her room could do this too! The biggest reason that AU has been able to utilize this software is because an intern a few years ago asked and found answers. Found the software and found the resources.. I am sure that AU is not the only one with surprisingly in tact cognitive abilities. We should really ask Teo about expanding the usage of the software to other children in addition to AU.

On the way home from the orphanage, I stopped by the post office to send off a couple letters and on the way back we stopped at the kiosks. I thought today was the last day so I got a couple more things to finish off my Christmas shopping. There was a shop called Forever Young and it was a bunch of jewelry that I absolutely loved and since it was the last day I thought I would try and bargain. The girl was having nothing of it and got really testy and rude with me. So you bet I walked right out of there. I was just asking for 15 lei less than her crazy high price anyways.. mannn.. no need to get all crazy. No jewelry for me this time... kind of a bummer because they were these awesome pocket watch necklaces that I loved.. but not for 45 lei. Well anyways enough about that. Later tonight we went to institute at the branch which was interesting with very little translation.. luckily Megan had read the chapters earlier that day so we could get something out of it. On the walk home I was able to get my last sweet bread that I was explaining earlier. They are called Kurtos Salacs and I got some pictures for you all. It seriously is divine! My favorite kind was rolled in this nutty, sugary sweet powder. It is a Hungarian treat and is found only on the eastern side of the country. I think I have eaten like 3 of these this week. I will miss them but good thing they are not around here or I would indulge wayyy too much! Funny how when you are busy… weekends become your relaxing time and homework time! Oh! One more thing. Today I was able to call home and talk to my beautiful sisters because they are on fall break. I was also able to talk to my mom! Man I miss them so much. My phone card ran out though which is crazy cause that means I have used up a whole lot of minutes. Hearing their voices made my day.. made my week! I just wish I could go to kneaders with my mom right now and half a relaxing debriefing on our lives: ) Love you guys so much!
